Arriving late on the Saturday evening on a direct flight into Samui with the Planet Scuba team of Instructors to welcome them, we had them quickly into waiting transport and to the hotel for some kit sizing followed by dinner and a reasonable early night.
An early start the next morning and it was back into the mini buses to catch the ferry over to Koh Tao for the fun to start! A normally event free journey was changed into an interesting trip by crisps, chocolate and biscuits dipped in Nutella closely followed by 3m waves... I don't think this requires any further details!
A little worse for wear we arrived in Koh Tao to be greeted by the rest of the Instructor team before heading into the Safety Stop for lunch.
The groups were split and during the afternoon and following morning, confined water training and scuba reviews took place to prepare for the open water dives!
After the next day's onslaught of rain, limited visibility and rough surface conditions, the open water dives were aborted in favour of a reef conservation presentation and an adventure race around the resort in Chaalok Baan Kao.
Divided into their travel groups they selected members of each team for kayaking, swimming, running and the 'Plank' and with a course laid out by teachers and prefects they battled through the rain for team victory.
The next two days it was then back out on the boat for the groups to complete their diving training.
Geoff, Rob, Olivier, Greg and Debbie lead their groups through their skills and succesfully certified 26 Open Water Divers, while Brummie and Winnie certified 12 Advanced Open Water Divers, Simon and Jenny qualified 2 Peak Performance Buoyancy (PPB) Divers and Bob brought the rest through to complete 4 Enriched Air (EANx) Divers and 6 Diver Propulsion Vehicle (DPV) Divers.
